I was privileged to share the findings of my S.J.D. (equivalent to Ph.D. in Law) dissertation with prominent Hawaii attorneys and scholars. Panelists included Justice Sabrina McKenna from the Supreme Court of the state of Hawaii, Christine Kubota, Esq., the President of Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert, and Attorney Tom Taniguchi, Esq., a counsel of the Department of Attorney Generals Office.
I received valuable advice from Craig P. Wagnild, Esq., a former President of the Hawaii State Bar Association, and other legal professionals in the audience engaging in corporate law, family law, and transactions in the cross-border context between the U.S. and Japan. These valuable insights strengthen my argument and certainly enrich my S.J.D. dissertation, which will be formally submitted within the next few months. I will hopefully be able to graduate from the S.J.D. program next May.
I sincerely thank Professor Mark Levin and his staff at the Center for Japanese Studies for coordinating the panelists’ busy schedules and organizing this excellent workshop. I would also like to extend my appreciation to all who attended my workshop, sacrificing their peaceful Saturday morning.
